A Guide to Courchevel
Courchevel 1850 is the highest and most storied of Courchevel's villages. Beyond the skiing and some of the most extensive terrain in the Three Valleys, it's a village built around three things: exceptional shopping, exceptional food, and an après scene that spans from quiet fireside cocktails to some of the most exclusive nightlife in the mountains.
Designer Shopping & Boutiques
The heart of Courchevel's shopping scene runs along Rue du Rocher and Rue de l'Église, at the foot of the slopes. A second cluster, Espace Diamant, is a luxury shopping arcade housing several prestigious jewellers and watchmakers.

A Note on Duty-Free Shopping
Courchevel is one of the few destinations in France outside Paris where the tax-free shopping process is notably streamlined.
Boulangeries & Pâtisseries
Courchevel's bakery scene is anchored by one family name.
- Maison Gandy Au Pain d'Antan — the oldest boulangerie in the resort, founded in 1963 and still family-run. The original 1850 branch sits on Rue des Tovets, near the Sherpa supermarket, with a second store also in the village. Fresh bread, pastries, and handmade chocolates daily, with indoor seating and a terrace for coffee on the way to the lifts.
Après-Ski & Nightlife
Courchevel 1850's après scene boasts some of the most exclusive nightlife anywhere in the Alps.
- Le Tremplin — right at the foot of the slopes, the natural gathering point as lifts close, with live music from mid-afternoon into the evening.
- Les Caves de Courchevel — the village's most exclusive nightclub, a long-standing institution for late-night regulars.
- Le Kalico — live piano and cocktails, with an after-hours extension running into the small hours.
- La Folie Douce — technically across the mountain at Meribel 2100, but a Courchevel institution nonetheless: open-air clubbing, live DJs, and cabaret-style shows through the afternoon.
